Featured in my shop today!

(this piece is sold)

Yellow + chunky = yunky

I'm thinking that YUNKY should be the new "it" word for the year. "That is like so YUNKY!" or "love your YUNKS!" or how about "that is YUNKED out!!"
My friend Mary is the one that told me that YELLOW is going to be all the rage this year ! Well, when Mary talks about fashion and color I listen because she was however the first person I saw wearing a pimped out skull necklace.....now skulls are everywhere. She knows her stuff, I tell ya, yellow is everywhere! I'm loving this bright YELLOW with a touch of RED!!
(above bracelet is sold)

enjoy!

The animal craze...

Everywhere I look I am seeing these awesome animal print bags. I first noticed my friend Erika's when she was visiting me from Idaho a few weeks ago. Now I am seeing them absolutely everywhere!! So I'm taking this inspiration to the next level...

Giraffe bag meet giraffe earrings!
My niece Londyn has been wanting something zebra striped really, really bad.
So I looked for something for her at the gemshow and lookie here....
(surprise Londie!!)
zebra bag meet zebra earrings....
I've never seen a red zebra.....until now!

red zebra....meet red zebra earrings!Watch out......it's a jungle out there!
For these animal styles check out my etsy shop!

Busy BEE!

I've been a busy Bee this past week but had lots of fun! First off I was making jewelry like a mad banchee for a jewelry trunk show at my mother-in-law's house. No matter how many pieces I have made I never think it's enough and can't stop making....thus my entire house is thrashed and is in need of some marry maids to clean it up!!Friday there was a small gemshow in town so my awesome sister-in-law went with me--which made it all the more fun!! Buying gems is hard work and by the afternoon we were wiped out and hit the Cheesecake Factory!
It wasn't as big as the Tucson gemshow but I was so stoked that atleast I got some new goods to help me make it through until February. I must say I was impressed with some unique finds that I can't wait to make into something really special!!
I really could have just eating these for lunch! They are so yummy!!

SWEET & simple

Sweet and simple is the statement you will make with these darling gems on sterling silver chain.
Whether you like a chunkier chain or more dainty, these pieces are very versatile for everyday wear to a night on the town with your sweetie.
Classic black is always a must. If I could, I would wear black everyday-- all day-- I love it!!

chunky monkey bracelets

(all sold)
Just off the work bench chunky monkey bracelets. I haven't made bracelets for a while. I don't know why but they are always the last thing I make. These beauts are strung with sterling silver chain so they move around a bit and you can see the chain in between. I {heart} them! These are made with chunky dyed tree seeds with fired ceramic beads in between.

Labradorite & Black and WHITE!

(this set is sold)
I LoVe Labradorite. It's one of my favorite stones. It's beautiful, versatile, shimmery and can be found from grays to blues to greens. They blues are my favorite, favorite! I love mixing them with rich brown tones and oranges especially for fall.
This bLacK & WhIte beauty is made with Gold Obsidian, quarts, and mother of pearl. Gold obsidian is a new discovery for me. I never knew how awesome it was until I bought some. It's called gold but it's BLACK until you look into it further and see a shimmer of shiny goldish tones inside of it.
(this necklace is now sold)

Anthropologie is my all time favorite online inspiration for color and style. As I was looking

Nie Nie Day Auction & My Auction Rules

Today Thursday, August 28th, has been declared by Design Mom as Nie Nie Day. Myself along with many bloggers have joined together to hold silent auctions on our blogs and etsy shops to raise money in behalf of Stephanie and Christian Nielsen, who are survivors but badly injured in a plane crash a little over a week ago. They are in need of our prayers and also if we are able, financial support. Their medical bills are said to reach millions and their insurance will tap out soon. I have been an avid reader of the Nie Nie Dialogues, which is Stephanie's blog. I have never personally met Stephanie and yet she has inspired me along with many other people with her daily blog posts which were uplifting, beautiful, and entertaining. To learn more about their family and their story and how you can help go here.

A little about me, my name is Jeannie Olsen and I have been designing and selling my jewelry for the past 6 years but have been dabbling in it since my teen years, which was long ago. I love the creative process, finding unique materials to work with brings a big smile to face! I have been living in Tucson, AZ, home of the worlds largest gemshows. I recently relocated to Highland, UT and now will have to make the yearly trek to Tucson for the shows that used to be in my own back yard. I am so excited and honored to be able to be apart of this unique effort in behalf of the Nielsen family. Now bid bid bid!! :)

The rules for this auction are as follows:

1. My auction will be open from Thursday, August 28th until 6 pm on Sunday, August 31, 2008.
2. I will make the first bid in my comments section. To make a bid you must go to the comment section and look at the current bid and then increase the bid in dollar increments. Please include your email in your bid so I can easily contact you.
3. Check often to see if you are winning and increase your bid as you wish. Each time you make a bid your name will go into a hat for a exciting door prize!! See side bar for door prize picture.
4. Once the bidding closes, I will announce and contact the winning bidder. Then as the winner you will donate directly to Stephanie & Christians paypal account and then email me at myneckcandy@comcast.net the confirmation number. Your goodies will be mailed to you ASAP.

Thanks a ton in advance for all your help! I hope we can raise oodles of money for the Nielson family. **Remember if you aren't able to donate and even if you are able please keep them in your prayers!

Nie Nie day

Yeah for Nie Nie day,

Design mom has come up with a great idea to raise money in behave of Stephanie and Christian, parents of 4, who were in a tragic plane crash in Arizona. She came up with an awesome idea to raise money for their family to help with their medical expenses, that will be GINORMOUS. On Thursday, Aug. 28th, she has established it Nie Nie day and called for help for fellow bloggers to auction items off if they can. It is so cool to see everyone coming together to help this great family.

There will be hundreds of items being auctioned off. Design Mom has a Super Secret Auction planned for her blog and I'm sure it will be fabulous. I've read that people are donating all sorts of great items and services like: haircuts, handmade items, blog design, vinyl lettering, jewelry, etsy shop items and much more. I decided it's the least I could do to auction off a few of my jewelry pieces. All proceeds will go to the Nie Nie fund and will be paid directly to their PayPal account, to help the family with millions of dollars of medical expenses that will be needed to get them better. I will try and have the items posted on Wednesday for an early sneak peak. So on Thursday check back and also check out Design Mom's site for her list of auctions.

Below I posted Design mom's idea, also if you are not familiar with Nie Nie Dialogues you can check out her blog here and read about their story here.

Donate! Donate! Not only will you get something great but the warm fuzzies are free!!

From Design Mom;

"When tragedy strikes someone we love, our hearts swell, and the urge to take action is almost relentless. I know many of us are feeling that way about Stephanie and Christian. We want to take action. To do something. Some of us know them personally. Some of us know them through Nie Nie Dialogues. Some of us just heard about them and can't seem to think of anything else.

Well. I am still feeling that urge to take action. So here I go. I'm officially declaring next Thursday, August 28th, Nie Nie Day.
The plan: instead of my usual Giveaway, I'll be hosting a silent auction at Design Mom. With all proceeds going directly to the Stephanie & Christian Paypal fund. What's the prize? Well Ms. Impatient. You'll just have to wait until Thursday to find out. Although I promise it will be great. And something that Stephanie would love.

But that's not all. I'm assuming you're feeling the take-action-urge as well. So here are a few things you can do to celebrate Nie Nie Day:

1) Host a silent auction* on your own blog. For sure you have something awesome hanging around your house — in your gift closet, under the bed, in the pantry. Auction it off already. And relieve your house of clutter at the same time. Or. You could contact your buddy who's an etsy seller and see if she'll donate one of her fabulous creations. Just think how fun it will be if there are a whole bunch of auctions happening in honor of Stephanie & Christian at the same time!

2) Not up for hosting an auction? Then how about writing a special post on Nie Nie Day. You could include a link to your favorite article on Stephanie's blog in celebration.

3) Spread the word via twitter or blog or email or facebook about Nie Nie Day so that more people can get involved. You can use the cute banner above — designed for Stephanie's blog by the talented Lyndsay.

4) Send a card to Stephanie & Christian. There's just something about putting pen to paper. I'll contact the family to find out the best address to send these to and post it on Thursday.

5) Get spendy. And have fun bidding on some silent auctions.

How will anyone know you're participating? That you're hosting a super-cool auction? Problem solved: on Thursday I'll write a post about Nie Nie Day. And I'll include a list of anybody that's celebrating. Just send me a link to your post or auction (or mention on your facebook page or tweet or whatever) and I'll add your link to my Nie Nie Day post here on Design Mom. And we can all visit each other's sites and share the love. How's that sound?

It's like the internet was born for stuff like this.

*I want to note that the silent auction suggestion was given to me by Lauren Beatty of Sweet Bean Shop."
